Lake Arrowhead Wedding

I was fortunate recently to be a part of Doug and Mandy's Wedding. I was hired as the photographer for their ceremony and reception which were held at Pine Rose Cabins near Lake Arrowhead in California. The surrounding area was gorgeous, and Mandy made an absolutely beautiful bride. Congratulations Mandy and Doug, and thank you for asking me to be a part of your big day!

The couple made the paper flowers for the Bride's bouquet and centerpieces and hand painted each one. The bouquet featured multiple brooches hand-picked by Mandy.

The photo below is one of my favorites from the day. It is casual and sweet, and I think that it really captures the couple's dynamic together. Once again, Congratulations you two! It was a pleasure to photograph your wedding.

Dina Goldstein: Fallen Princesses

I've just seen this series by photographer Dina Goldstein, it's called Fallen Princesses. I actually used to work for the Mouse (it's really common in Orange County, California to work for Disney at some point). I really like the simplicity of the imagery and how relevant each scenario is to that specific princess. Above is a shot from Goldstein's website showing Snow White as a 'bare foot housewife'. I really like that the prince has a tear in his tights and the overall look of the home they share with their four children. Snow White looks pointedly at the viewer, with an ambiguous emotion in her eyes.

This photo depicting Rapunzel as a cancer patient is also really well done. I like the colors in the shot, the blue tone and the shadows of the curtain rods playing across the ceiling. The large crop shows how alone Rapunzel is, as does the sterility of the room she is in. Rapunzel looks down at the floor and her feet are turned over each other; everything about her body language communicates her frailty.

Pocahontas is shown as a single woman who has turned into a cat lady. Goldstein places a framed photo of John Smith on a sofa table with a bottle of wine next to it and Raccoon skins hang on the wall. She seems to be staring off thoughtfully, maybe remembering her time with Smith. These little details really pull you in to the image and make you spend more time with it, exploring.

If you're interested in looking at Goldstein's Fallen Princess collection as a whole, visit her online portfolio here. Thanks for visiting!

Post Valentine

Hello everyone, it's the day after Valentine's Day. Hopefully you all had a good day whether or not you spent it stereotypically. Here are a few of my photos of Abandoned locations that I have had the privilege to explore. There's no romance in these images, but I think there is plenty of beauty. If you're interested in purchasing a print of any of these photos click on the 'Etsy' tab at the top of this blog, and feel free to message me if you'd like sizes other than those currently offered.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone, I hope that everyone has an enjoyable day whether or not they believe in celebrating. I know that the validity of the holiday comes into question (especially with those of us who have spent Valentine's Day alone). I agree - at least in part - with those that feel that love, in all its forms, should be celebrated every day and not just on February 14th. I myself have never had a "good" Valentine's Day, never one that I would think of fondly. This year I plan to go out to dinner with my Valentine and just enjoy a relaxed evening together, nothing fancy.

In the spirit of the day I have decided to again share one of my favorite shoots, a bowling alley themed engagement session. This couple loved bowling together and wanted their announcements to speak about who they were as a couple. They were really easy to work with and their natural chemistry translated excellently on camera. I really enjoy this approach to engagement photography, an effort to truly represent each unique couple and either highlight shared interests or emulate the theme of their coming wedding. These shoots can get really creative, and are always fun.

I imagine some of you may even be planning to go bowling today. Enjoy yourselves and whoever you spend the day with, whether its family, friends, someone special or yourself. Have fun today!

More photos from this shoot can be seen here.

If you are interested in an Engagement Session, whether or not you are looking for a specific theme, feel free to contact me through any of the sites I have listed on tabs at the top of this blog. I can work with most budgets and look forward to hearing from you, even if its just a comment about some of my past work. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I've been busy with Jewelry!

Hello and Happy New Year! I've been away for so long! I keep making promises to myself to blog regularly but it hasn't panned out as of yet. I've been photographing jewelry (product photography) almost exclusively lately. The work is enjoyable and I get to be creative sometimes with layouts. It can be nice to work with something that you can literally place in the correct "pose" with your hands. I would like to work in portraiture more regularly, but I'm not going to complain about any business coming my way! I hope to continue to grow as a photographer this year. I'd like to think that the quality of my images has improved since the first post in this blog, and I am working every day to continue improving my images and having the finished photos look uniform and professional. Below you will see some of my most recent work with Jewelry, I hope you enjoy!

If you are a jewelry designer or know someone who works with jewelry or other hand-crafted items, feel free to message me concerning rates for product photography. I have photographed for clients big and small, from online boutiques to Etsy shop owners making each piece by hand. I can work with most budgets, and am eager to grow my business and contacts. Thank you for stopping by!

This photo of stacked bracelets is one of my favorite recent images. Thanks again for stopping by my blog, whether a google search, my Etsy shop, or facebook sent you this way - I appreciate every visitor and hope that your curiosity was sparked enough to drop by again. Thank you.
